We must ensure queer and trans youth are supported, affirmed, and loved.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has declared this PRIDE month that we are in a national state of emergency for LGBTQIA+ Americans.  

upEND recognizes that, once again, the country is in a dangerous moment in history marked by the systemic stripping of rights – the overturning of Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights, restrictions on gender-affirming care, book bans, and laws that criminalize families and medical professionals.

PRIDE month is an opportunity to continue to work to ensure queer youth — especially trans youth — are supported, affirmed, loved, and celebrated for their full identities. We must ensure that families caring for trans youth are protected and supported in promoting their children’s well-being. We must call out and fight to end the surveillance and control wielded over our lives from what we read to the health care we can access. We must stop any intervention by public systems to take children from families as a weapon, ultimately by dismantling them.
